High above Lucerne's old town on Musegghang lies the former property of city chronicler and pharmacist Renward Cysat, built on with the Cysathaus in 1578. The neighbourhood, characterised by historic buildings, lies within the city walls and is distinguished by its city villas and terraced gardens. The volume of the existing building is divided into a conjoined, terraced front and central section, which has undergone repeated structural changes over time. To the west, the house blends into the hillside with varying terrain levels. In addition to a south-facing terrace on the ground floor raised above the alleyway, the property has a wash house on the first floor, which is connected to the main house via a patio. In addition to energy-efficient renovation, the building envelope will be upgraded and extended with new dormers, roof openings and individual window enlargements, as well as a roof pinnacle. In addition to spatial interventions, the roof floor will be converted into a gallery, and the kitchens and bathrooms will be refurbished.
