The proposed vertical extension marks the "Kopfbau" of the existing textile museum, and establishes a new accent. The extension is defined by a filigran lightweight structure in steel- profiles and cables, and expresses the program towards the city, and mediates between the old and new in an independent and surprising way . In order to not affect the historic steel columns in the existing building, the loads of the new gallery floors and the new roof are being transfered via the outside steelstructure to the existing facade walls unterneath.
